Aiken's Airplanes - Hobby Master 1:72 HA1068 F-104G Starfighter - 10th Wing, 31st Group, Belgian Air Force Scale
The RCAF received its first CF-104 in March 1962. Although originally planned as a superior interceptor, the Canadian Air Force primarily used it for low strikes and reconnaissance. Over 25 years of active service, 110 aircraft were lost in accidents and earned the nicknames "Widow Maker" and "Lawn Dart". The RCAF CF-104 had the most flight time of any type with an average of 6,000 hours per aircraft over their lifetime, compared to the Luftwaffe's 3,000 hours. Built for RCAF in 1962 as c/n 683A-1101 and given serial number 12801. Aircraft no. 3 Wing at CFB Zweibrucken, Germany. The aircraft was retired in 1970 and was sold to Norway by 1973. In 1980 the aircraft was designated 104801 "801" In 1982 it was retired and flown to Oslo to begin its preservation at the Central Defense Museum on display at the RNoAF Museum (Forsvarsmuseet) in Gardermoen along with 334 Skv marks. In 2006 it was moved to the "Norwegian Aviation Museum" (Norsk Luftfarts Museum) in Bodø.

The Northrop F-5 is a family of supersonic light fighter jets designed by the Northrop Corporation in the late 1950s as a privately funded project. There are two main variants, the original F-5A and F-5B Freedom Fighter variants and the heavily upgraded F-5E and F-5F Tiger II variants. The design team wrapped a small airframe around two compact and high-performance General Electric J85 engines, focusing on efficiency and low maintenance costs. Smaller and lighter than counterparts such as the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, the F-5 costs less to purchase and operate, making it a popular export aircraft. Although primarily designed for a daytime air superiority role, the aircraft is also a capable ground attack platform. The F-5A entered service in the early 1960s. During the Cold War, more than 800 were produced by America's allies by 1972. Although the United States Air Force (USAF) did not need a light fighter at the time, it purchased approximately 1,200 Northrop T-38 Talon trainer aircraft, which were based on Northrop's fighter design. Colonel Giora "Hawkeye" Epstein, today Giora Even, is a retired Israeli Air Force (IAF) colonel and fighter pilot who claimed 17 kills, 16 against Egyptian aircraft, Epstein is credited with developing the modern Acesof, supersonic fighter jets and aircraft. Israeli Air Force. Epstein was an active pilot in the IAF from 1963 to 1997, when he retired at the age of 59. He, like many retirees of the IAF, later served as a captain for El-Al Airlines.
Epstein joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1956 during the Suez War. He was initially rejected from flight school due to a heart condition and began his military career as a paratrooper. While traveling with an IDF parachute demonstration team, Epstein changed his last name to Sam ("Stone" in Hebrew). He left the IDF in 1959 before returning two years later to reapply for flight school.

After receiving medical leave (most likely due to his own stubbornness), Epstein began training for combat. His unusual appearance soon earned him the nickname "Hawkeye". Epstein is accused of seeing the plane at a distance of 24 miles (44 km) - almost three times farther than a normal pilot.
Epstein's first kill occurred on June 6, 1967, during the Six Day War, when he shot down an Egyptian Sukhoi-7 in El Arish. During the 1969–70 war, Epstein shot down one MiG-17, one Sukhoi-7 and two MiG-21s. His remaining assassinations occurred during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Between 18 and 20 October 1973, he shot down an Mi-8 helicopter and eight aircraft: two Sukhoi-7s, two Sukhoi-20s and four MiG 21s. Then, on 24 October 1973, Epstein shot down three more MiG-21s west of Great Bitter Lake. . Eight of those victories came against the French-built Mirage III, an Adelta wing designed primarily as a high-altitude interceptor. His other nine victories came with the IAI Nesher, an Israeli-built version of the Mirage 5. Five of his claimed victories were downed using surface-to-air missiles and the rest by cannon.
After the Yom Kippur War, Epstein received the Distinguished Service Medal, one of Israel's highest military honors. He continued to lead Mirage and Kefir squadrons and flew "ready" F-16up missions until his 60th birthday. After retiring from the IAF, Epstein became the captain of El-Al Airlines.
Epstein was the subject of the first "Desert Aces" episode of the Dogfights history series. This episode first aired on 10 August 2007.

The Fighting Falcon features a smooth tail for better visibility, side-mounted controls for easy maneuvering, a 30-degree seat to reduce the effect of G-forces on the pilot, and a first-in-use static/flying-wire flight control system to make it an exciting aircraft. The F-16 has an internal M61 Vulcancannon and 11 locations for mounting weapons and other mission equipment. The F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", but "Viper" is commonly used by its pilots, as they resemble the avipersnake and the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viperstarfighter.
