1st Gen Glock - In 1981, Gaston Glock assembled a team of engineers and created his first pistol. The result was sent to the Austrian Army pistol trials and won the contract in 1982. The army designated the first GLOCK as the Pistole 80. These pistols were later known commercially as the "G17" and were only available in the US market for 2 years. Until the introduction of the "Gen2" model in 1988. The GLOCK P80 was never brought to America.

1st Gen Glock
The P80 comes in a 1980s leather case in a collector's box with cable lock and certificate of authenticity. Inside the bag is a pistol grip, two 17-round magazines, a magazine loader and a nylon cleaning brush. Out of the box, the P80 looks and feels unique.

This story is well known, but if anyone has been asleep for the past 30 years, it bears repeating. What Gen Is My Glock
The frame is the "single pin" type used in the early Gen1/Gen2 rifles and also the later Gen5 rifles.
The "new" P80, which is 100% factory made in GLOCK, should not be labeled as a model, but it can be called a repeated offering of the first model from the 1980s.
Other key features of the GLOCK P80 pistol include a polymer frame with a single-pin GLOCK style (the "two-pin" style was introduced with the Gen2, but the single pin above trigger is definitely back with the Gen5), classic- pebbled style, smooth face, flat main tool and no extra rail or teeth on the front of the slide. (Obviously no fingers here!)
The slide also proudly displays the P80 markings, while the visible ones are polymer. In fact, the slide coating is no longer the old Tenifer, here it is replaced by the latest nDLC coating. But most people don't worry about it - if they notice it.

To enhance the "nostalgia effect," the gun comes in an original Tupperware-style gun case and is wrapped in a custom cover that evokes the gun's historical significance. A certificate of authenticity is also included.

A very common question for new Glock buyers is, "What generation is my Glock?" Before the release of the 4th generation, Glock did not officially accept only model numbers, contributing to the perception that "Glock is Glock is Glock - they are all the same." But the first collectors noticed the differences and settled on an arbitrary system of three times or "generations" to separate them. The name was so popular that Glock followed up with a Gen 4 release in 2008, and their marketing materials now highlight earlier Gens elsewhere.
The pictures below will help you identify exactly which generation Glock it is, but remember that there are many similarities because the models have changed gradually. Generation 1 was one of constant change. Although the first plan is reliable, it is a work in progress.
